Many people think that commercial plumbing is similar to residential plumbing. Well, it is in a way, just on a much larger scale. What you have to remember is that hotels and apartment complexes are also considered commercial properties. Meaning, if there’s a problem with one room or unit, then the other units will probably require plumbing services as well. In today’s post, we discuss the three most common reasons we plumbers get called in to work on commercial properties.
Toilet clogs. While drain and toilet clogs are less of an issue in commercial settings, they’re still pretty common. Most people tend to take better care of their own things. This means that when staying in hotels, many people don’t think twice about flushing random things down the hotel room toilet, whereas they would never do the same in their own home.
Broken fixtures. Commercial properties often have old-school toilet fixtures and toilet handles. These tend to break easily, and when they do, local plumbing service providers usually need to be called. Toilets in commercial properties also tend to get used a lot, so even if the fixtures are sturdy, they’re still prone to damage.
Water temperature issues. Commercial water heaters need to be inspected and maintained every few months to ensure that they’re running as smoothly as possible. This task is sometimes forgotten or simply ignored – to the building manager’s or owner’s own detriment. Even if you don’t notice hot water supply issues, you should still have your system checked out by a pro regularly.
