Common Window AC Problems & What to Do to Fix Them

As a reputable company for local plumbing services, A-1 Comfort Care advises homeowners to have annual maintenance performed to keep window units running as they should, but sometimes there are certain issues that need to be addressed quickly. If you’re currently having one of these problems, here’s how you can fix it:

Your Compressor Is Having Unusual Problems

If your compressor constantly cycles off and on, this is a clear indication that there’s a problem with the unit’s thermostat or temperature sensor. To troubleshoot this, check if the temperature sensor is positioned near to the evaporator coils and make sure the AC filter isn’t clogged. If you still have this type of problem, then the thermostat may be faulty, so you need to consult with one of our trusted technicians to have it fixed.

Water Drips From the Front of Your Window Unit

If the front of your window AC unit is dripping water when it shouldn’t, the problem lies with the angle at which it’s mounted. The unit should be mounted with a slight slope toward the rear to make the condensed water flow to the outside through the drain pipe. Proper reinstallation should solve this problem, and you can always call in a trusted AC and plumbing service technician to ensure this is done correctly.

Your Window AC Isn’t Producing Cool Air

If you don’t feel any cool air pumping from your window AC, make sure your air filter is clean. This should be done once a month so the cooling performance won’t be compromised. If this problem still persists, then it may be because your unit is lacking enough coolant (Freon). Coolant is a vital part of the unit since it circulates through the evaporator coils and cools the air flowing over it, which then sends cool air into the room.

When the coolant level becomes too low, the AC fails to cool. In most cases, your air conditioner will just stop cooling when the coolant leaks from the unit. This is where you need a professional technician  to accurately pump the right amount of refrigerant into the cooling coils.

When you need an excellent technician who specializes in air conditioning and plumbing services, don’t hesitate to turn to our team at A-1 Comfort Care.
